It is recommended that students take every opportunity to watch live dance performances in a wide range of styles throughout the course. Many performances happen here at QEHS throughout the year, but there are also many local theatres such as The Queen’s Hall in Hexham, and The Theatre Royal, Northern Stage and Dance City in Newcastle. Look out for workshop opportunities from professional touring companies.
The more live dance and physical theatre the students can see and participate in, the more informed and inventive their work in class will be.
GCSE Dance students are encouraged to attend a class at QEHS on Thursdays from 3.30 – 4.30 in the theatre. There is no charge for this class.
For students who are serious about their dance training there are opportunities to study Contemporary Dance at an advanced level at QEHS (Youth Dance Tynedale) and Dance City (Centre for Advanced Training)
