Our Year 11 students and staff are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results. In a year of change, with significantly more challenging GCSEs and a new grading system in maths and English, we are delighted to report that we have matched our record breaking performance of last year.

80% of students achieved the new 9-4 grades in English AND Maths, matching the equivalent percentage of A*-C from last year.

There were many outstanding individual performances and we are delighted that so many students will progress on to study A Level and vocational courses in our Sixth Form which, indications following last week's results appear to show, is the best performing state school Sixth Form in the whole North East.

Head of School Andy Byers said, "I am immensely proud of this group of students. They have been the guinea pigs for many of the changes that have been introduced by central Government throughout their school career so it is fabulous to see that they have performed so well. Given the difficulty of the new GCSEs, these results can be seen as our best ever”.

"Our students can now move on to a variety of A Level and vocational courses, apprenticeships and college courses with confidence following their hard work and success and we wish them a bright and successful future".
