QEHS are working together with West Northumberland Food Bank to help combat the growing problem of food poverty. West Northumberland Food Bank are a network of local volunteers and organisations who collect tinned and dried food that has been donated by local people. The collected food is then distributed to people who are in food poverty within Hexham and local areas.

QEHS will be collecting the below tinned or dried items:

  • Tinned meat/fish/pulses/beans
  • Toothpaste/shampoo/shower gel/deodorant/razors
  • Tinned vegetables/tomatoes/fruit
  • Washing up liquid/washing powder/cleaning products
  • Dried milk/UHT long life milk
  • Nappies/baby wipes
  • Fruit squash/pop/coffee/sugar
  • Rice/noodles/tinned or instant potatoes
  • Dog food/cat food
  • Crackers/biscuits/cereal/tinned desserts

This year's event has been promoted to QEHS students during assemblies by Mr Brown and will be running until Thursday 19 October 2017. Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 should clearly label their items/carrier bags with their tutor group name and hand them into their tutor during registration time. Sixth Form students can directly hand their items/carrier bags to Mr Wilson in the Pastoral Office. Donations will be delivered to West Northumberland Food Bank on Friday 20 October 2017.

We thank you in anticipation for your support and look forward to receiving your donations.
