Year 10 and Year 12 have just returned to school following an exciting week in Madrid on the Spanish exchange. Students stayed with Spanish families and thus learnt a lot about Spanish family life.

They attended school with their Spanish exchange partners and also took part in various cultural visits and activities which included a Flamenco lesson, a visit of the Royal Palace, a tour of the football stadium Santiago Bernabéu, home of Real Madrid, a day in the lovely historic city of Toledo, a visit to the art gallery ‘El Prado’ and also to Museo Reina Sofía to see the very famous painting ‘Guernica’ by Pablo Picasso along with various works by Salvador Dalí. The highlight was possibly a trip to one of the oldest chocolaterías in Madrid to enjoy ‘chocolate con churros’! Many new friends were made during our stay and we now look forward to welcoming our Spanish exchange partners back to Hexham at the end of June.
