Last week 21 students from our partner school in Steinhagen visited Hexham for the first leg of the annual German exchange. Despite snowy conditions, the guests were given a warm welcome by their host families and enjoyed five days of cultural activities including trips to Edinburgh, Newcastle, Durham and Beamish, as well as spending a day shadowing their partners during lessons.

The German group was sad to leave on Friday morning, having made new friends with our Year 10 and 12 students and we are all looking forward to the second leg of the exchange in July, when the group will have the opportunity to vist Berlin and Osnabruck, as well as the Dr Oetker factory in Bielefeld. The Year 12 students will all participate in work experience placements offered by a range of providers such as a local newspaper, an engineering company, a travel agency and the ever-popular Herr Besser, mayor of Steinhagen.
