The Queen's Hall in Hexham is once again the location of an exciting exhibition featuring the work of A-Level Art and Design students from QEHS.
Following on from a successful and established relationship with the Queen's Hall, a selection of work inspired by the theme 'Altered Image' is exhibited to showcase a variety of disciplines within art and design. This new group of talented young artists examine and challenge the concept of the theme using a variety of traditional processes and new media. The students continue the reputation of QEHS to produce high calibre work that has a distinctive quality and breadth of imagination.
As always, the exhibition demonstrates the QEHS commitment to drawing and painting and its importance as a research activity.
Many of the students continue to follow pathways into leading Further and Higher Education Colleges in Fine Arts, History of Art, Design, Architecture and Media throughout the UK.
Altered Image is the first exhibition mounted by Queen’s Hall Arts that incorporates new barcode technology. This allows visitors to the Gallery, by way of their smart phones, to connect directly to the new Altered Image website http://queenshallalteredimage.weebly.com . The website includes more information about the Exhibition than it is possible to display in the Gallery, including descriptions of the exhibits by the student artists themselves. Using a smart phone (such as an iphone or android phone) the user scans the barcode alongside each piece of art using the phone’s camera. The phone then detects the barcode and takes the user direct to each individual student’s webpage on the website.
