100km Challenge Completed

Congratulations to Stephen Turnbull - he has completed his 100km challenge, taking 40 seconds less than 10 hours!

Ex-QEHS student Stephen Turnbull has decided to run for The Emma Newton Fund. Mr Williams caught up with him recently during the Wallington 10k race.

After his final race, Stephen said that "it was some of the most stunning scenery and the weather was perfect - quite a fitting end to the challenge."

His results are as follows:
Sunderland City 10k (26th June 2011 - Time 58.02); Coniston 16k (3rd July 2011 - Time 1hr 36m 57s); Great North 10k (17th July 2011 - Time 52 m 50s); Keswick 14k (3rd September 2011 - Time 1hr 33m); Wallington 10k (11th September 2011 - Time 53m 00s); Coniston 15k (1st October 2011 - Time 1hr 40m 51s); Kielder 10k (8th October 2011 - Time 52m 27s); Helvellyn 15k (5th November 2011 - Time 1hr 32m 00s)

Please help him exceed his target by making a donation now, no matter how small.

You will be aware of the tragic death of Emma Newton, one of our sixth form students, following an accident.

Our thoughts are with Emma's family and friends.

Emma was a highly talented, inspirational dancer and contributed enormously to the performing arts at QEHS. She will always be remembered not only for her talent but for her lively, vivacious personality and her beautiful smile. She touched the lives of so many.

A fund has been set up for Emma in celebration of her life. Her parents have chosen to establish a permanent fund in Emma's name with the Community Foundation which will grow in her memory. The Emma Newton Fund will be used to make grants and donations in Emma's name, to those young people who need a helping hand in pursuing their dreams within the field of performing arts, forever.
