Four lower sixth students took part in the Celebration and Assessment Day (CAD) of the Engineering Education Scheme (EES) at Newcastle University on 21 April 2017. QEHS won the “Pupils’ Choice Award” for the second year running, which was voted for by students from all 30 schools taking part. During the day, the students gave a 15-minute presentation on their project to a panel of expert assessors. They were then quizzed on their grasp of the brief. They were highly commended, by the assessors, for their depth of knowledge and understanding, the clarity of the presentation and for their breadth of research.

During the Easter holidays, Year 12 students enjoyed the annual ski trip to Serre Chevalier.  Mrs Bevan sent through some photos of skiing and the slopes.

36 students are in France this week to participate in the French Exchange with our partner school, Lycée Flaubert in Rouen. As part of the programme, students have visited Paris and will visit Honfleur, Fécamp and Rouen, as well as experiencing life at school and in French families. Mr Harbron who has been running the trip for six years says "the French Exchange is the perfect opportunity for our students to take their learning beyond the classroom and see the usefulness of their languages as a life skill ".

The students spent a great weekend with their hosts and a wonderful day in hot and sunny Paris on Monday.
